SoapBox at SPILL 2016
1pm – 7pm // Sunday 30th October // FREE ENTRY
Welcome to SoapBox at SPILL
SoapBox has curated a huge six hours of poetry, spoken word and live literature for SPILL Festival 2016, in the SPILL DOME, which will be constructed in Cromwell Square, Ipswich. This venue will be the Festival hub right in the centre of town and is free to enter throughout. This gorgeous geodesic dome, complete with seats and a bar, will be filling to the rafters with words ‘enmasse’ from SoapBox’s favourite writers.
We have invited poets and performers from local writers groups, societies, open mics and poetry gigs to join us in a huge celebration of the spoken word, in its many beautiful forms. Please join us as we welcome to the stage, in order of appearance:
Dan Clark and Amy SoapBox (hosting)
Gerry Donlon from Storytelling with Bards Aloud
Sue Wallace-Shaddad & friends from the Suffolk Poetry Society
Thom Knave from Folklorium (MA student at the University of Suffolk)
Tom the Zengineer from the Ipswich Rap Community
Em Bea from Rhyme Scene
Matt Annis & Jayd Green from the Writers & Speakers Collective (University of Suffolk)
Ben James from RawTalk Recordings
Cro Page from the Suffolk Feminist Society
Justine De Mierre from Tapas & Tales
There will also be a few open mic spaces for people to join us on stage and read a poem or two. Do get in touch if you would like to take part. I will be taking pre-booked slots, and holding a few back for ‘on the day’ sign ups too.
Do check out the Festival programme from SPILL. Its a really exciting event and extremely thought provoking. Huge thanks to the Pacitti Company for inviting us to participate this year.
