Monthly spoken word open mic night

SoapBox is delighted to announce the return of Words & Verses, our free entry monthly spoken word open mic night with featured poets, at a new venue. Those fabulous folk over at The Pacitti Company are hosting us at their friendly arts space, the Think Tank, on Ipswich High Street in the centre of town. It's fully accessible and can welcome all ages, which opens up new possibilities for younger poets, comedians and writers in the region to join us on the mic. Hosted by arts producer and poet Amy Wragg, it'll be a fun filled night of experimentation, laughter and thought provoking literary linguistics.

We will also have a new start time of 7pm, with doors opening at 6.30pm, and finished by 10pm. We see the earlier start/finish times as being more accomodating for all of us with day jobs and kids, and to create a more welcoming space for younger poets to engage with. As well as the usual 5 minutes per person, sign up on the night only open mic format, we'll also be having three featured poets from the local area who will have 15 minutes to share their art with us. These spots are available to anyone who feels they have a strong idea of the performance that they want to hone. Do get in touch if this sounds like you, as we really want to support our regions writers and performers to develop a longer set they can take to the next level.

Dates: Wed 27 Feb, Wed 27 March, and Tues 23 April. 6.30pm doors, 7pm start. Sign up on the night. FREE ENTRY.
