We are delighted to annunce the line-up for the SoapBox Festival Stage 2022, August 26/27/28, at The East Anglian Storytelling Festival, Food Museum (Stowmarket). 88 acres of beautiful countryside, plus a farm, within a 10minute walk from the train station. The SoapBox Creative Team will be decorating the entire Festival site and can't wait to get our jellyfish on it. A small, relaxed, indepdendent Festival that celebrates all things stories, with poetry, music and decor provided by getonthesoapbox.
FRIDAY:
Electrosonic Poetry Experminent: Poets meet musicians and jam. Some live, some prepared, with open sessions too. Featuring Fjorten, Em Bea, JP Lodge, Amy Wragg, Dan Clark, plus friends.
The Stookey Blue Trio: Colourful three-piece Suffolk celidh folk band

SATURDAY:
JP Lodge: Multi-instrumentalist from the folk tradition.
Mudman: The return of our favourite friend from the marshes, bringing with him a specially created new show of songs and poems for their debut on the SoapBox stage.
Tabloid Capers & Bored Sheets: The return of our comedy news digest show, featuring artists from across the Festival, hosted by Jared Tilston and Matt Annis. We'll buy a selection of the (printed) newspapers, and laugh/cry/shout about it all together with the help of our hilarious panel.
Kids Open Mic: Sign-up throughout the Festival to have a go on the mic. All words, stories, poems, music, jokes welcome. Under 18's only. hosted by a genuine child.
Ells Bells: The much anticipated return of everuone's favourite ukulele duo. Join the sing-a-long, play-a-long fun. BYOU. (Bring your own ukulele) Song books provided.
New Voices: A great sslecetion of local poets and writers, may of whom we met at our regular spoken word open mic at The Spread Eagle in Ipswich. (second Sunday of the month from September onwards). Chloe Rose. Ellen Clayton. Tony Woollard. Lottie Pook, Jacko Pook.
Fjorten: Ambient electronica from this reclusive sound artist who combines samples from the natural environment, with digital beats.
SoapBox Jellyfish Workshop: Come along and learn to make a Jellyfish Kit. Adult kits cost £15. Cheaper basic kids kits will also be available to buy. Beautiful handmade SoapBox DIY Jellyfish kits are made from knitted wool, and recycled fabrics. All ethically sourced.
SoapBox Jellyfish Parade: Take your fabuslous new jellyfish for a colourful, noisy parade around the Festival site. Percussion provided.
Elly Tree: One of our favourite local folk/acoustic artists, incredible voice, stunning songs and always a treat to see live.
Words & Verses Open Mic: Featuring... Allanah Jo-Ann Peck-Wiltshire, & Jackie Montague, plus YOU! Sign-up on the day only.
Ben Brown: Notoriously brilliant solo acoustic singer songwriter, from Dingus Khan, SuperGlu and Anna's Bones. An absolute joy.
The Pancakes: Suffolk's best kept secret, a duo of weird instrument weilding folk acoustic musicians with a great sense of humour. With songs such as 'Crazy Fingers, Sensible Thumbs', 'Im a Potato', and 'The Road they call the Street'.
Poetry Party: A specially created poetry inspired music playlist for you to shake your booty too.
Unplugged Club: A few special guests playing acoustic afterhours.

Belinda Gillett: Beautiful haunting vocals and great sonwriting from this much beloved Suffolk artist.
NatureCulture: Groovy solo bassist with poetic lyrics

SoapBox Drop-in Art Club: With free small crafts projects including Make Your Own Zine, unique craft kits to buy, and premade bunting, garlands and zines for sale. Look out for the 'Magical Festivall Bags' for only £5 containing a mix of handmade art, zines & bunting.
Kelly Will: The fantastically talented Kelly will be our artist in residence for the return of the SoapBox Stage. She is ambidexterous and makes incredible line drawings using both hands.
Julia Peculiar: With her recycled fashion, made sustainably, you'll want to see her gorgeous handmade clothing range. She'll also be giving us a talk on sustainability on Sunday morning.
Emmaus Suffolk: Local homelessness charity will be hosting a pop-up fashion rail with some funky Festival threads for your weekend.
