SoapBox is delighted to be participating in Ipswich Book Festival's 'Local Author Showcase' at the beautiful Ancient House, in central Ipswich.
We'll have a lovely little SoapBox stall selling our handmade, print-only zines, raising funds for SoapBox Spoken Word CIC (No.15971136) a non-profit organisation that uses words, stories, poems & ideas to benefit people & communities.
Plus our Director, Amy Wragg, will be doing a 20min talk on both Saturday & Sunday, at high noon. (12pm for the less dramatic)
On Saturday she'll be talking about her passion for zines, covering a bit of their fascinatiing history, and the work she is making today.
On Sunday she'll be talking about spoken word, and how a love for words has evolved into a fully grown organisation - SoapBox Spoken Word CIC - empowering people through creativity and community. In-person, in print, and in the present.
Ancient House is free to enter through the weekend (Saturday & Sunday) 10am-3pm. All talks are free. Check the blackboard outside Ancient House on the day, for further info. Several authors will be sharing their stories, and talking about their work, throughout the day(s). All ages welcome.
Its an utter delight and privelege to particpate in the inaugural Ipswich Book Festival. Thank you to the Ipswich Book Festival team, and James Jenkins, for the invitation.
