JACKIE MONTAGUE

ackie is a spoken word poet, writer and performer based in Ipswich, Suffolk. A recent performance was described by Outline Magazine as “bawdy, humorous -ding dong-and uncompromising.” She sees the extraordinary in the ordinary and her work often dives headlong into an interrogation of how the cultural, political, historical and personal meet.

Recent performances have included Harwich Arts Festival and Asylum Studios Bentwaters, Smokehouse, Ipswich.  Most recently she has performed at Fox Yard Studio Stowmarket and  as Greasy Codpiece, a duo performance created with Hugh Metcalfe at Hundred Years Gallery, Hoxton  E2 and at Klinker Club Café Oto Dalston E8

Jackie’s work has been selected for Ruthin International Arts Festival; Instant Vortex Live Art Happening Colchester Arts Centre and Spill Live Art Festival as a performer and writer. Jackie has been published by Earth Island Books in the 10 Poets Anthology.

This year Vacant Possession is released -an experimental fantasy documentary directed and edited by Jackie and musician and film maker John Bowers. Her spoken word performance is integral to the film.

DAVID MUSTILL

Originally from Liverpool, David Mustill moved to Ipswich from holy Yorkshire at the end of the eighties. For well over a Rachel Reeves decade he co-hosted Poetry Ipswich and the Aldeburgh Poetry Festival’s manic late night open mic. Having been in a poetic slumber of over fifteen years, an older and less young David has emerged to find the Ipswich poetry scene more vibrant than ever. David spent last year hauling his upcyled material around open mic sessions like there is no tomorrow (which there might not be), and performed at the Wooodbridge Festival of Arts and Music and Hughie Metcalfe’s Klinker Club in Felixstowe and Bentwaters. He has also written some new stuff, most of which he likes.

MORGAN

Morgan is a poet and self-proclaimed “angry woman” born and raised in Ipswich, Suffolk. They started writing poetry seriously during their final year at art school when they realised they were bored of drawing. Mainly taking the form of imagined letters, Morgan’s poems explore themes such as womanhood, history, voice and identity.

Proudly hosted by Amy Wragg. Presented by SoapBox Spoken Word CIC.
