Journal : SoapBox Videos

26/10/2012

Here at SoapBox HQ we asked the fantastic Film maker Shaun Fosdyke from Loud Sounds to come and film a bit of our last gig at Kai Bar in Ipswich. So, here is our new wonderful set of SoapBox videos. We hope you enjoy them as much as we do.

First up to play at Kai Bar was the exceptionally talented Phil Jackson.

We were super pleased when Phil stepped in to play solo after illness in The B Goodes and we just can't get enough of his silky voice. Do check out Phil Jackson online and get along to one of his gigs, such a great musician, vocalist and performer, one of the very best!

Second up was the fantastic swinging grooves of Cube Roots, an Essex/Suffolk band who played a great set considering their drummer was sick. Check out their brilliant music online here. Proper soulful, bouncy, funky tunes from these brilliant musicians.

Third to play was Jackknife Horsebox, a proper country rock'n'roll band. One of my favourite local bands, I love watching them live and go to all their gigs in my hometown Ipswich. Truly interesting song writing and super skilled musicians, the guitarist is a music teacher dontcha know. They always give a great show when they perform live, especially the charismatic front man Kris Andrews. This video is one of their much tamer songs so promise you'll go see them live soon okay? They are always really engaging.

Last but by no means least were the BLOODY BRILLIANT SHIT A BRICK FANTASTIC Dingus Khan. We are actually properly in love with this local band. They originate from one train stop on from Ipswich, the little known town of Manningtree.

SoapBox has been an avid fan since the very first time Dingus frontman Ben flyered us in a pub in The Swan, Ipswich. They genuinely love what they do and are clearly having lots of fun doing it. Their energy is boundless and every live show is something special. I have seen them play maybe 8 times this year? Maybe more. Im not even close to being bored, they are a breath of fresh air.

Don't be fooled by their general silliness and dressing up, these boys mean business when it comes to music. The songs are extremely well written, funny, filthy loud and proper rock and roll. Their songs are so good its insane...
