The Decibel Kid is an Ipswich based audiovisual craftsman, inspired by both the pulsing movement of the dance music which he DJs and the experimental sounds of labels such as Warp Records, which he listens to in the bath.
He is on a mission to document the urban environment,
collecting audio and video snippets of the things that often go unnoticed in daily life. From the hum of an aircon to the drumming of an escalator, to the flickering of an ancient light fitting.
He uses custom built computer magic and projector screens to play these stolen moments live like instruments, layering, reversing and manipulating them. But this is no introspective art jam, the all important beat and bassline are front and centre.
Who knew you could dance to the rhythm of a city?
