To mark the beginning of our brand new membership project - SoapBox People - we are holding our first 'SoapBox Social', featuring spoken word performances from the amazing folks who have made SoapBox what it is today.
We are absolutely delighted to welcome Johnny Marriott - of Pet Needs fame - back to SoapBox for a very special spoken word set, his first in over half a decade! If you had ever attended SoapBox festival stages, or gigs about 10 years ago, you will remember this talented chap. He played on our very first Festival stage back in 2012, and performed at countless SoapBox gigs after that, both as a poet, a songwriter, and a musician.
Known for his skilful and poetic lyrics, energetic stage performances, and authenticity, Johnny Marriott is best known as the front man of the burgeoning Essex punk/rock band Pet Needs. Pioneered by Frank Turner, and signed to Xtra Mile Recordings, we are insanely lucky to be able to grab him for one night in between an extremely busy tour season, where the band, and their amazing community (Fractured Party People) are taking on UK and America by storm.
We will also be hosting a special SoapBox People open mic, where our incredible members will be invited to share their poems & stories with us all, hosted by Amy Wragg.
